About Me
I moved to the inner-city in NJ with my family from Colombia at a young age. I am grateful to my parents for giving me the opportunity to grow up in the US, but it was not without hardships.
The culture I was raised in did not promote open discussion about mental health issues. This inspired me to learn more about mental health and psychotherapy. I obtained both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in social work at Rutgers University. My practice as a psychotherapist can be described by a moving quote by the writer, Ayesha Siddiqi that says “Be the person you needed when you were younger”. I provide the safe space and mental health education that I would have benefitted from earlier in life.
I have 10 years of experience treating children, adults, and families in outpatient and partial hospital settings. I am certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
FAQs
How often will I need to do sessions? How long will I be in therapy?
Treatment is most effective when sessions are held on a consistent, weekly basis. The length of your therapy treatment can be determined by you and your treatment goals.
What is your no-show/cancel policy?
There is a fee of $100 for no-shows and appointments canceled with less than 24-hour notice.
How long are sessions?
Sessions are typically 45 min.
Do you take insurance?
Yes, I work with the Alma insurance program, which accepts Cigna, Aetna, Optum, and many of their affiliated insurance providers (including Meritain, United Healthcare, Oxford). If your insurance is not included but has out-of-network benefits, a superbill can be provided.
What is your out-of-pocket fee and what payment types do you take for fees?
Out-of-pocket fee is $200/session. Payments for out-of-pocket fees, including co-insurance and copays, are processed with a credit card through Alma.
Where will sessions take place?
Sessions are offered virtually at this time, using a HIPAA-compliant Zoom video call for patients located in NJ. Stay tuned for future in-office appointment availability!
Will anyone need to know I am receiving therapy?
All treatment information is confidential. There are exceptions for minors, safety concerns, and court subpoenas.
